Ivan Smolnikov

Ivan Smolnikov is a physicist-turned-entrepreneur with over two decades of experience in AI, enterprise SaaS, and linguistic technology. He began his career as a scientist at the Fiber Optics Research Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences before transitioning into the language services industry. In 2004, he co-founded ABBYY Language Solutions (ABBYY LS), which he led as CEO until 2016, growing it into one of the top 50 global language service providers. In 2013, Ivan initiated the development of Smartcat as an internal project within ABBYY LS to address the limitations of existing translation technologies. Recognizing the broader potential, he spun off Smartcat as an independent company in 2016. Under his leadership, Smartcat has evolved into a comprehensive, agentic AI global content platform. Ivan's vision is to build the future of work where human expertise meets digital teammates to drive 10x to 1000x productivity gains for the world\u2019s leading enterprises.
